hey NC3!! hows your holiday?? hope that everyone is coping with studies as well as competition... mmm... we left with 11 days only.. which is so not enough... seriously need to buck up... NC3 all the way~!! we need to work very hard on our nursing.. we spending too much time doing a procedure.. need to speed up.. and for drill, we are so called not very serious.. lots of figedting during drill and as for first aid, we need to really know all the signs and symptons cause i am really afraid of what is going to happen on that day.. will the casualties and sir give us a hard time?? i cant imagine us being so unprepared.. so, please... we need to buck up.. although studies are important. but we have worked so hard for this competition and it is only 11 dyas away from us.. we cant let our hard work just go like that.. we need to achieve something out of it.. and that is the champion.. that is our NC3 aim and goal.. so NC3 raelly need to stay united for this period of time and every single second of our training is very important... NC3... go go go!!

Hello NC3! Trainer Melissa here.

Here's some diaphragm breathing techniques: In normal talking one uses air from the top of the lungs and the muscles from the throat, a properly projected voice uses air right from the bottom of the lungs, and the diaphragm is used to push it out. ~Wikipedia

Stand in front of a mirror that shows you at least down to the waist. Take a deep breath. Did your shoulders rise up? If they did, you are probably breathing only with the top part of your lungs. (Note: I'm not sure if this is anatomically correct, but it's the term voice teachers use.)

Now try holding your shoulders down as you breathe in and concentrate on feeling your lower rib-cage expand. Now the air is getting down there where it will do the most good.

Breathe in slowly, counting to ten and feeling your rib-cage expand. Now breath out, concentrating on pushing the air out rather than just letting it flow. The muscle that is doing the pushing is the diaphragm. (Note: be careful not to hyperventilate when doing this exercise.) To project, you have to actively push with the diaphragm. You will find that the harder you push, the more sound you can make.

Now try singing an attention-getting phrase using the diaphragmatic breathing that you practiced. Take a deep breath, making sure your rib-cage is expanding. On the note that is most comfortable, sing out the phrase. Push with your diaphragm on each syllable. Concentrate on feeling that column of air rising from your center to your throat and on out.
Start softly at first, then see how loud you can make it. (Don't worry about the neighbors hearing!) ~

Enjoy!
